Chauvin Sent To Federal Prison Facility In George Floyd Killing

(NEWSnet) -- Derek Chauvin, the former police officer convicted in the killing of George Floyd, has been moved from a Minnesota state prison where he was often held in solitary confinement to a medium-security federal prison in Arizona.
Chauvin may be held under less restrictive conditions at the Tucson facility.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons declined to detail the circumstances of Chauvin's confinement, citing privacy, safety and security concerns.
Experts said earlier that Chauvin was likely to be safer in the federal system, which typically houses less-violent inmates, and is unlikely to have inmates he arrested.
