EU Human Rights Representative in Irpin and Bucha
The EU Special Representative for Human Rights visited the Ukrainian towns of Irpin and Bucha on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters, Eamon Gilmore said the world couldn't turn a blind eye to the crimes committed in Ukraine during the Russian invasion.
"We talk not only about those who committed the crime, the direct crime, on the spot and in location. They of course have responsibility, but we are also talking about those who are in the chain of command, if necessary, right to the very top. But that has to pursued by investigation of those who are carrying it out." Gilmore said.
He said the EU Human Rights Committee was working in close cooperation with the Ukrainian police and prosecutor's office, as well as with the United States, "to address atrocities" committed in Ukraine.
He added that those who committed the crimes and those who gave the orders should be brought to justice.
