It's getting hotter and people are turning on their air conditioner units only to find out something is not right and after doing everything they know like changing filters, they turn to experts like Aaron Pluger from Pluger Mechanical for advice.

Pluger gives NewsNet Northern Michigan some tips to know its time to call your local technician as he installs a new air conditioner unit.

"Moisture could mean its low on Freon, the charge so it's causing the Freon to come back colder to the unit so it causes excessive moisture," said Aaron Pluger, Co-Owner of Pluger Mechanical.

Other signs as Pluger describes as reason to call in the experts, is your unit gets really noisy.

A lot of it when the compressor goes bad, it has a pretty bad refrigerant leak in it than it's time to replace it," said Pluger.

Other complaints Pluger hears about and we've all been there the unit is not blowing out cold air and it's been on all day.  He explains exactly how it happens.

"Sometimes it's just like a bad capacitor, a relay switch or the unit froze off, which is a sign it low on Freon and the indoor unit is just a block of ice," said the Co- owner of Pluger Mechanical.

Pluger said that means, you'll have to wait 8 to 10 hours, first for it to thraw before diagnosing what's going on with it.

And other reason a homeowner may want to consider hiring a HVAC company, an extremely high energy bill.
