Many of the best high school football players in the state of Michigan came out to Big Rapids.  They put their skills on display with hopes of impressing some of the top college programs in the country.

Most of the better high school players in Michigan have goals of someday playing in college.  Grant Schmidt of Traverse City Central is one of them.  The upcoming senior is hoping to improve and take his game to the next level.

"I definitely want to go to the collegiate level, I'm not ready to end it after high school, it's such a good experience.  There's nothing like it."

Schmidt is one of many great high school players who participated in the Michigan Football Showcase at Ferris State University.  They came out to fine tune their talents and to learn from some of the great coaches in the country including Michigan's Jim Harbaugh.

"There is something, they want to get better at.  There is a skill, technique and fundamental, that they want to improve on, just work a little bit harder at it."

This was also a chance for coaches to scout the best and try to get them to suite up for their program.  Tony Annese, who just led Ferris State to the Division II National Championship is hoping some of these players will become a Bulldog.

"It's an easy selling point, when you have a ring to show people.  It's one of those things, where a lot of young people want to come to a winning program."

Another player who came is Mathias Smith-Davis from Southfield A&T High School in the Detroit area.  He's the son of former Michigan State Great Maurice Smith-Davis.  The Junior has goals of playing at the top college level, just like his dad.

"This is a great opportunity, there is a lot of talent out here.  It's nice to compete out here.  I see a few coaches that I grew up watching, it doesn't feel real, it feels amazing."

The camp was organized by Sound Mind, Sound Body, a football academy based in Detroit.
