Triple A says its hard to determine when gas prices could drop especially since they could to rise but offers some ideas to help you save some of your money.
NewsNet Northern Michigan's Denise Turner reports.

As gas price soar across Michigan drivers like Joan Mackey say they just have to go with it.

"We'll there's not much I can do about it and I'll just have to pay the price," said Mackey.

She's not alone, AAA's Gary Bubar said there are several reasons for the price hike, and much of it has to do with supply and demand.

"When you have supply issues is what we're facing right now. We've seen a decrease in supply and demand has gone up tremendously post pandemic and with the holiday particularly in Michigan," said Bubar.

Another factor which driver Val became filled with compassion over is ongoing war in Ukraine.

"You know, why to help I guess we've got to help those poor souls," said Val.

With gas prices reaching well over the $5.00 mark, Bubar offers things drivers can do to keep the amount of the fuel used down.

"If you're paying cash for gasoline, you could get it 3, 4, five cents a-gallon cheaper may not be a lot, but it's something and I think two over the long haul if you can consolidate some of your trips," said Bubar.

Which is exactly what Val and Mackey said they have been doing.
