Just before midnight on May 14, Leelanau County Sheriff's Office Deputies, along with Units from Cedar Fire and Rescue and MMR responded to the 11000 block of S. Bright Rd., Kasson Twp., for a report of an unresponsive man.

Once they arrived, they located an unresponsive 32-year-old from Wayland.

The man was provided life-saving measures, however, he was pronounced deceased at the scene and a drug overdose investigation ensued based on information located on the scene.

Deputies say the home was being used as a short-term rental and that an unknown substance located on the scene tested positive for fentanyl and methamphetamines.

The incident remains under investigation as the office awaits the completion of the Medical Examiners report.
