The Manistee County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a drowning incident that occurred Sunday around 5 p.m.

A 20-year-old man that was diving/swimming off a boat on Bear Lake began to struggle and couldn’t resurface.

The Manistee County Dive Team conducted a search with the assistance of the Bear Lake Fire Department and the United States Coast Guard.

Search efforts continued through the evening but the man could not be located. Further efforts are contained through this morning.
