Across the US, trains derail more often than you might think. The majority of them, though, cause only cargo damage.

However, several injuries were reported after a train derailed Thursday in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.

According to an official, a construction vehicle was crossing the tracks when it was hit by an eastbound train.

The train derailed sending several of its cars into a nearby creek, and two of its operators to the hospital.

The driver of the construction vehicle has also been taken to a hospital. All injuries are reported as minor.

Some of the train cars involved were hauling a type of crude oil, requiring clean-up. Those efforts are underway.
