Oxford High School Students Walk Out in Protest
Oxford High School students in Michigan walked from the main school building to the nearby football field on Thursday in a walk-out protest.
WXYZ says the walkout was part of a protest over a lack of gun control laws and to show support for the victims of the school shooting this week in Texas.
The students rallied at the football field, angered by the shooting, when in November of 2021 an Oxford sophomore opened fire on students. The gunman killed 4 classmates and injured 7 other people, including a teacher.
The gunman in the Oxford school shooting is charged as an adult with first degree murder among other charges.
Students at Oxford High School in Michigan weren't alone in their walk-out protest.
Some Virginia high school students walked out of class Thursday to protest gun violence in schools following the mass shooting at a Texas elementary school.
Video showed dozens of students walking to the football field at in Falls Church Virginia and lying on the field. Other schools, such as one in D.C. also took part in the walk-out protests.
