Scientists hiked to a bald eagle nest on Catalina Island off the coast of Southern California Tuesday to rescue an eaglet that was accidentally kicked out of its nest the day before.
It landed safely a few feet below the nest. After the accident was spotted on a webcam, scientists from the Institute for Wildlife Studies hiked out to the nest to rescue the eaglet.
Dr. Peter Sharpe of the Institute for Wildlife Studies put the eaglet in a bag and brought it up to the nest while others added sticks to shore up the nest to prevent another accident.
After the eaglet was returned to the nest, it seemed to pose for pictures snapped by its rescuers.
