On Saturday, the second of two troopers will be laid to rest, as a community in the southeast part of the state continues to reel from losing one of its city's finest.

LEBANON

A police officer was killed and two officers were injured Thursday during a shooting while responding to a domestic disturbance, Lebanon Mayor Sherry Capello said.

Police went to a home in the city at about 3:30 p.m. for the disturbance call. Nearly an hour later gunfire broke out and officers radioed they were hit, Capello said.

All three Lebanon City Police Department officers were taken to hospitals. One of them has been pronounced dead. A second was in critical condition, but stable, and a third was in stable condition, according to officials.

“This is an extremely difficult moment for everyone,” Capello said.

The suspect, a 34 year-old man from Lebanon, was killed in the shooting, Lebanon Police Chief Todd Breiner said. The slain officer's name is being withheld pending notification of extended family members.

Chief Breiner said, "I want to thank, most importantly, or not to forget the amount of officers that responded to assist us or continue to assist us during this time of need. Our guys are strong, but we're human. And we have families and people were injured. We are all affected by this and with the help of our families and every law enforcement officer around this country we'll get through it."

Lebanon resident Angelo Gonzalez, 17, was working at a pizzeria down the road from the shooting when he said he saw “cop car after cop car flying down the street.”

“Then we heard something and weren’t sure what it was and the street filled up with cops and ambulance in a matter of 15 min,” Gonzalez said in a text message."

LEVITTOWN

The body of a Pennsylvania State Police trooper who died after a vehicle struck him, another trooper and a civilian on an interstate in Philadelphia last week was escorted to a public funeral service Thursday.

A procession carrying Trooper Martin F. Mack III's remains departed the Wade Funeral Home in Bristol and was taken to St. Michael the Archangel Church in Levittown, some five miles north, where colleagues and family gathered in his honor.

Jayana Tanae Webb, 21, of the town of Eagleville was charged with third-degree murder and vehicular homicide while driving under the influence in an early morning crash.

State police said charges would also include second-degree manslaughter of a law enforcement officer, involuntary manslaughter, recklessly endangering another person and driving under the influence.

Police identified the civilian killed as 28-year-old Reyes Rivera Oliveras of Allentown, who had been reported walking in the southbound lanes of I-95 near the sports stadiums in south Philadelphia early Monday last week.

Trooper Martin F. Mack III and Trooper Branden T. Sisca arrived around 12:45 a.m. Monday and were trying to take the man into custody and walk him back to their vehicle when another vehicle "traveling at a high rate of speed" struck all three, Capt. James Kemm said Monday. The three victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
