An adviser to Ukraine's president said Wednesday the final draft of a ceasefire agreement with Russia could be ready within a couple of days.

Mykhailo Podolyak said the draft agreement the Ukrainian side has handed over to Russian delegates is a possibility for Moscow "to end the war and to save face."

He added that with Russian amendments to the draft, the signing of a preliminary agreement could lead to a meeting between the two countries' presidents.

Podolyak said the Russian forces must withdraw to their positions before the February 24th invasion started, to pave the way for a peace deal to be put to a nationwide referendum.

Podolyak, who took part in Tuesday's talks with Russian negotiators in Istanbul, said that Russian statements of cutting back forces near Ukraine's capital could be a "tactical move" allowing the Russians to relocate their forces to the Donbas.
