Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced Wednesday he had made a formal determination that Russian troops have committed war crimes in Ukraine.

The top diplomat said in a statement the assessment was made on a “careful review” of public and intelligence sources since Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine a month ago.

Specifically he cited attacks on the civilian population in the besieged city of Mariupol and elsewhere.

Blinken says the U.S. will share that information with allies, partners and international institutions tasked with investigating such allegations.
