Cadillac Man Arrested for Stolen Catalytic Converters in Wexford Co.
On November 10, a Michigan State police trooper stopped a vehicle for an insurance violation on Mitchell Street near Pearl in Cadillac.
During the traffic stop, the trooper spotted a large vehicle part in the center console area.
The driver, 35-year-old Todd Aaron Baxter from Cadillac, stated it was a muffler. The trooper was aware of recent catalytic converter thefts in the area and investigated further. This led to the discovery of several tools inside the vehicle including a large manual car jack on the backseat floorboard and two more catalytic converters.
The items were seized, and a report submitted to the Wexford County Prosecutor’s Office. An arrest warrant was authorized, and Baxter was arrested on a later date without incident.
Baxter was arraigned on November 24 in Wexford County for two counts Receiving and Concealing Stolen Property over $1,000 but less than $20,000 and one count Receiving and Concealing Stolen Property over $200 but less than $1,000.
His bond was set at $10,000 and his next scheduled court appearance is on December 7 at 2:30 p.m.
