A Paw Paw man was arrested for resisting after a MSP Trooper attempted to pull him over.

On November 25 around 12:48 a.m. a Michigan State Police trooper from the Cadillac Post attempted to stop a 2017 Dodge Ram driven by 28-year-old Justin Isaac Middaugh for a moving violation on M-37 near M-113.

The vehicle did not stop and continued at a high rate of speed and after several miles eventually stopped near County Line Road. A deputy from the Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene to assist.

Middaugh displayed signs of intoxication and was asked to exit the vehicle. Middaugh followed orders but refused to perform sobriety tests.

When the trooper attempted to arrest Middaugh, he resisted and struggled with officers.

After his arrest, Middaugh requested EMS personnel check him out as he had a scrape on his left cheek and fingers. EMS was dispatched to the scene and Middaugh was cleared.

He was lodged in the Grand Traverse County Jail.

Middaugh was arraigned Monday in Grand Traverse County for one count Flee and Elude Fourth Degree, one count Resisting and Obstructing Police, and one count Operating While Intoxicated Third Offense. His bond was set at $100,000. His next scheduled court appearance is on December 17.
