CHICAGO (AP) — White Sox outfielder Luis Robert left Game 4 of the AL Division Series against the Houston Astros because of tightness in his right leg. Robert was replaced in center field by Adam Engel to start the seventh inning Tuesday, with Chicago trailing 6-1 on the brink of elimination. He was 1 for 3 with a single. The 24-year-old Cuban batted .338 with 13 homers and 43 RBIs over 68 games in his second season. He missed more than three months because of a torn right hip flexor.
ATLANTA (AP) — Atlanta Braves catcher Stephen Vogt underwent sports hernia surgery last week and won’t be available during the postseason. The Braves say Vogt had surgery on Oct. 6 in Atlanta. He is expected to be recovered in time for spring training next year. The 36-year-old Vogt played just 26 games for the Braves after being acquired in a trade with Arizona. He batted .195 with seven homers and 25 RBIs in 78 games. Vogt wasn’t expected to be on the Braves’ postseason roster even if healthy.
ATLANTA (AP) — Braves right fielder Jorge Soler was pulled from the lineup for Game 4 of the NL Division Series against Milwaukee after testing positive for COVID-19. Outfielder Cristian Pache took Soler’s spot on the roster, Major League Baseball announced. Soler was replaced at the top of the order by shortstop Dansby Swanson. Joc Pederson, slated to start in left field, shifted to right. Guillermo Heredia was inserted in center field batting eighth, and Adam Duvall switched from center to left. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Walker Buehler is set to start on three days’ rest for the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 4 of their NL Division Series against the San Francisco Giants. Buehler is opposed by right-hander Anthony DeSclafani, making his first appearance this postseason. DeSclafani had a 3.17 ERA in 31 starts of the best season of his seven-year career. The Giants lead the best-of-five series and could eliminate the defending World Series champions with a victory at Dodger Stadium.
DETROIT (AP) — A person familiar with the situation says Detroit Lions standout center Frank Ragnow has a season-ending toe injury that requires surgery. Ragnow was hurt earlier this month at Chicago after he snapped the ball off quarterback Jared Goff and into the hands of Bears defensive lineman Bilal Nichols. Ragnow went on injured reserve last week and center Evan Brown made the first start of his three-year, four-team NFL career last Sunday at Minnesota. The Lions host the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
