ATLANTA (AP) — Charlie Morton will start on three days’ rest for the Atlanta Braves in Game 4 of the NL Division Series against the Milwaukee Brewers. Morton will be looking to give the Braves a clinching victory in the best-of-five series. He’ll be opposed by Milwaukee left-hander Eric Lauer, who is set to make his first appearance of this postseason. Lauer went 7-5 with a 3.19 ERA in 24 appearances during the regular season, including 20 starts. Morton worked into the seventh inning on Friday, throwing 85 pitches in a 2-1 loss to the Brewers in Game 1.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Walker Buehler will start for the Dodgers tonight on three days’ rest in Game 4 of their NL Division Series against the San Francisco Giants. Right-hander Anthony DeSclafani (dee-skla-FAH’-nee) starts for the Giants, making his first appearance this postseason. CHICAGO (AP) — Houston Astros center fielder Jake Meyers has left Game 4 of the AL Division Series against the Chicago White Sox after he crashed into the wall chasing a home run. The Astros said Meyers exited with discomfort in his left shoulder after he was hurt in the second inning Tuesday when he tried to make a leaping catch on Gavin Sheets’ solo drive. Left fielder Michael Brantley and right fielder Kyle Tucker immediately checked on him and waved for medical help. Meyers was examined for several minutes, took a few throws and talked with manager Dusty Baker before walking off the field. He was replaced by Chas McCormick.

UNDATED (AP) — Kyrie Irving can keep refusing to get the COVID-19 vaccine. He just won’t play for the Brooklyn Nets until he does. The Nets announced today that Irving won’t play or practice with the team until he can be a full participant, putting an end to the idea that he would play in only road games. Under a New York mandate, professional athletes playing for a team in the city have to be vaccinated against COVID-19 to play or practice in public venues. Without mentioning his vaccination status, general manager Sean Marks said Irving has made a decision that keeps him from being a full member of the team. Marks says Irving will still be paid for road games. NBA players are not required to be vaccinated, but they face more testing and social distancing.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster’s season is over. Coach Mike Tomlin says Smith-Schuster will have surgery to repair an injured right shoulder and is heading to injured reserve. Smith-Schuster sustained the injury in the second quarter of a victory over Denver last week that ended a three-game losing streak. The Steelers will turn to James Washington among others to fill the void left by Smith-Schuster’s absence. Pittsburgh hosts Seattle in Week 6.
