Economy Adding Jobs, Mac and Cheese Ice Cream Comeback
We start with the ADP Jobs Report.
Private payrolls grew by 347,000 jobs. That’s well short of what was expected. Economists forecasted 600,000 new jobs. Most of the gains to no surprise came in the hospitality industry as the sector continues to recover in the summer months adding a little more 200,000 new jobs last month. Education and health services also added jobs --- coming in at around 59,000. Otherwise, the stagnation comes amid hiring cutbacks because of the delta variant.
Amazon announced it is set to hire 55,000 new employees.
Most of the jobs will be in the corporate and tech sectors of the company. The move is the first big
hiring spree under their new CEO Andy Jassy.
Walmart also ramping up its hiring efforts.
The big box retailer is expected to add 20,000 new employees. The Arkansas based company says the new workers will focus on its supply chain. That means many of the jobs will be for order fillers and freight handlers. The move comes ahead of the holiday season shopping rush that’s quickly approaching. The new opportunities will be a mixture of both full time and part time employees. The jobs are permanent positions.
Now to the latest on the fight against COVID-19.

The study analyzed blood samples 6 to 10 weeks after full vaccination. The study included more than 1600 participants.
Some news for Pfizer recipients as well.
According to a new study out of Israel a third dose of the vaccine lowers risk of disease by up to 68% 13 days after the shot. The study also says that protection increases overtime up to 84%.
