A Cheboygan man was arrested after driving 40 miles over the speed limit.

On August 16, around 11:17 p.m. a Michigan State Police trooper stopped a vehicle for speeding on US-27 near Townline Road in Inverness Township. The vehicle was traveling 84-mph in a 45-mph construction zone. The driver, 51-year-old John Wallace Ainslie Jr from Cheboygan, displayed signs of intoxication. Sobriety tests were administered, and he was placed under arrest and lodged in the Cheboygan County Jail.

Ainslie was arraigned Tuesday in Cheboygan County for one count Felony Operating While Intoxicated Third Offense. His bond was set at $5,000 and his next scheduled court appearance is on September 2 at 9:00 am.
