PHOENIX (AP) — Chris Paul and his rejuvenated right shoulder scored 21 points and dished 11 assists, Mikal Bridges added 23 points and the Phoenix Suns beat the Denver Nuggets 122-105 in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals. The Suns trailed for most of the first half and by 10 points early in the third quarter but rallied to take the lead by late in the third. Nikola Jokic led the Nuggets with 22 points but went cold while the Suns made their second half run. Game 2 is on Wednesday in Phoenix.

NEW YORK (AP) — The Brooklyn Nets needed only two of the ‘Big 3’ in a 125-86 blowout of the Milwaukee Bucks. Kevin Durant scored 32 points in three quarters of a rout that sent the Nets halfway to the Eastern Conference finals. Playing without the injured James Harden, the Nets led by as much as 49 points and held the NBA’s highest-scoring team 34 points below its season average. Kyrie Irving added 22 points. Giannis Antetokounmpo had 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Bucks.

MONTREAL (AP) — The Montreal Canadiens have made quick work of the Winnipeg Jets following Monday’s 3-2 win and a four-game sweep. Erik Gustafsson and Artturi Lehkonen scored in regulation for Montreal, which has won seven straight playoff games since trailing Toronto 3-1 in the opening round. Montreal awaits the winner of the Colorado-Vegas series, which is tied 2-2. Game 5 is tonight in Denver. In Boston, the Islanders’ 5-4 win over the Bruins gives them a 3-2 lead in their second-round playoff series. Game 6 is Wednesday.

RED SOX (AP) — Christian Arroyo hit a two-run single in Boston’s three-run fourth inning, and the Red Sox took advantage of Miami’s shoddy play to hold off the Marlins 5-3 for their fifth straight victory. Alex Verdugo added an RBI double and two hits for the Red Sox, who were coming off their first three-game sweep at Yankee Stadium since June 2011. Starling Marte hit a solo homer and two singles for Miami, which stranded 14 baserunners in its ninth loss in its last 10 games.

PARIS (AP) — American teenager Coco Gauff served superbly to reach her first Grand Slam quarterfinal with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Ons Jabeur at the French Open. The 17-year-old Gauff lost only nine points on her serve. Gauff will next face Barbora Krejcikova (kreh-jih-KOH’-vah). She also reached her first quarterfinal at a major by beating 2018 French Open runner-up Sloane Stephens 6-2, 6-0.
