Mike Yastrzemski (ya-STREHM'-skee) and Brandon Belt drove in runs for San Francisco, which began the day tied with St. Louis for the best record in the National League. David Dahl launched his third home run of the season for the Rangers, who are 0-5 in interleague play.
NEW YORK (AP) — New York Mets ace Jacob deGrom has resumed playing catch and plans to evaluate his mechanics after New York placed him on the 10-day injured list today with tightness in his right side. The two-time NL Cy Young Award winner was pulled before the sixth inning of Sunday's 4-2 win over Arizona, his first appearance after skipping a start due to discomfort in his right lat muscle. The 32-year-old got an MRI on Sunday night that showed no structural damage.
DENVER (AP) — San Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis (tah-TEES') Jr. and utilitymen Jurickson Profar (JUR'-ihk-suhn PROH'-fahr) and Jorge Mateo have been added to the team's injured list due to health and safety protocols. Tatis spent time on the injured list last month with inflammation in his left shoulder. He leads the Padres with nine homers and 23 runs. JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Authorities say former NFL quarterback Brett Favre (fahrv) has yet to pay back $600,000 in money he received from the state of Mississippi for multiple speaking events he never attended. He promised to pay back the state a year ago, after an audit released in May 2020 revealed that $1.1 million had been paid to Favre’s company, Favre Enterprises. The amount was just part of $94 million in welfare spending that was “questioned” by auditors who said they either saw clear misspending or could not verify whether money was lawfully spent.
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — A law firm hired by the University of Michigan says school staff missed many opportunities to stop a doctor who committed sexual misconduct for decades. The long-awaited report by the WilmerHale firm comes more than a year after former students publicly accused the late Robert Anderson of molesting them during routine physicals or other visits. Some university officials at the time took no action despite being aware of complaints, including legendary football Coach Bo Schembechler (SHEHM'-behk-lur).
