A Clare man was taken into custody peacefully after threatening to shoot a person with a bow and arrow.

On Monday, troopers received a call from a woman in Vernon Township that a 39-year-old man had threatened to shoot her with a bow and arrow and was also armed with a knife.

Fortunately, the woman was able to leave the residence and call 911 before the suspect was able to act on his threats.

Troopers were subsequently able to talk the man into coming out of the residence and take him into custody without incident. Family members report the suspect was possibly having a mental health episode.

The man was ultimately transported to Midland for a mental health evaluation by Mobile Medical Response.
