A 57-year-old-man has been arraigned after allegedly threatening his ex-wife with a knife.

On Tuesday night, a trooper was flagged down while on patrol by a woman stopped in her vehicle. The woman alleged her ex-husband, Frankie Joe Schweizer, had just threatened her with a steak knife.

They currently live together in Vanderbilt. After she came home from work to bring him his cell phone and other items, Schweizer was intoxicated and asked her for his money while holding a kitchen knife in a threatening manner. She then fled the home.

The trooper called for additional troopers to come to the scene. Troopers went to the residence on Straits Highway and spoke with Schweizer.

Schweizer would only talk to troopers through an open window and refused to come outside. After learning he would be going to jail, he went and sat in the living room. Troopers entered the home through the unlocked front door and Schweizer followed their instructions and was placed under arrest without incident. Troopers seized a kitchen knife on a couch adjacent to Schweizer that resembled the one described by the victim.

Schweizer was lodged in the Cheboygan County Jail.

Schweizer was arraigned on April 27th in Cheboygan County for one count Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, and one count Domestic Violence Second Offense. His bond was set at $25,000 and his next scheduled court appearance is on May 5th at 11:00 a.m.
